Brad’s Testimony – 3 P’s & a T
Brad also talked about a concept he had for keeping God in our daily lives. He called it 3 P’s & a T: Prayer, Praise, Preaching & Testimony. His idea was that as long as you’re doing one of these things, God will be with you. It’s a pretty simply concept I guess. I mean, all of these do involve God, but how often are we actually doing one of the four?
If you really get down to it, none of these are really that difficult. And a lot of us have gifts for each of these. Brad’s gift was the gift of testimony. I mean he sat and gave his testimony to Nate and I for an hour and a half. I guess with these you just have to find your niche. We should all take part in each of them, but I’m sure we can all find one out of the four that we are good at and enjoy doing.
Prayer isn’t too hard. All it takes is ourselves and God. Prayer doesn’t have to be asking God for anything or telling Him how horrible life is. It can just be talking to God. We don’t have to just go to God when we need Him. He wants us to come to him daily and spend time with him, which we can do through prayer.
As for myself, I love praising God. I love praising Him for all of the things that he is doing in my life and will do in the future. You can praise God in all sorts of ways: through music, through drama, even through silence. God doesn’t require anything fancy in praise and there are no guidelines for how you praise him.
Preaching, I believe, is the toughest of the four. I feel that a lot of people struggle with this, just because they aren’t sure how to approach those who need to hear about God. I think the most important thing to remember about preaching, if it’s outside of the church, is to try and become a person’s friend before you go thumping your Bible and telling them how evil they are. I think we need to step back, pray for God’s guidance and that he would open a window for us, so that we can get His message through to those who don’t know Him.
Finally there’s testimony. Everyone has a testimony, whether it’s given in a short fifteen minutes or a long hour and a half novel, like Brad’s. I don’t care what anyone says, if they’ve been saved, they have a story, and they should never be ashamed to tell that story, nor should they ever be ashamed of their past, because it only shows how much the grace of God can do for a sinner.
I guess this really isn’t a life changing fact, but it just struck me when Brad was talking to us. For some reason I felt that I just needed to post it. Maybe there is somebody who will come across this that needs it.
